Mom sues San Joaquin sheriff over mingled remains

STOCKTON — The mother and sisters of a girl whom authorities think was killed more than 27 years ago by California’s notorious “Speed Freak Killers” are suing San Joaquin County officials over the handling of the 16-year-old’s exhumed remains.

Joan Shelley and her two surviving daughters filed a federal lawsuit in Sacramento on Monday alleging that the backhoe employed by Sheriff Steve Moore caused JoAnn Hobson’s bones to be chopped up and co-mingled with those of other victims whose remains were recovered in Linden last year.

The lawsuit, first reported by The Stockton Record, seeks unspecified damages for negligence and emotional distress.

Deputy Les Garcia says the department has not been served with the suit and could not comment on it.

The sheriff has since asked the FBI to handle the search for additional victims.

How can some one sue a county that is really protected by the cop that work there i have lived in stockton and i know that people there can lie cheat n steal for there next high so how are you going to sue someone that goes by pro- to-col if you would be honest n not worry about the going to jail thing would happen right i have been in you'r county and love the police there who do there job with what they are give as far as what info you give them the results and out come is different so i would say to that lady get real because I am from Solono County and you need to do you're home work before you blame the people that would of been there if you had called 911 sooner....yadadadadadadadadh- Mean i lived on Pilgram N E.
