MADERA — The Madera County District Attorney’s Office says that a couple was sentenced Friday for starting 23 fires in the Yosemite Lake Parks area of Madera in 2013.

The Fresno Bee reports that Kenneth Jackson, 41, was sentenced to 30 years and eight months in state prison for 21 counts of arson and additional counts of conspiracy to commit arson, resisting arrest and battery of a police officer. Alice Waterman, 48, was sentenced to 10 years and eight months in state prison for six counts of arson and one count of conspiracy to commit arson.

The fires occurred during a six-month period from May 11 to June 25 of 2013. The Bee reports that Cal Fire sifted through the wreckage to provide evidence of arson in 23 of the 31 area fires during that period.

Glad to see no leniency. It doesn't take many arsonists to set California ablaze.
