REDDING — A California Highway Patrol officer has pleaded no contest to felony drunken driving causing injury in connection with a four-car crash.
The Redding Record-Searchlight reports that 43-year-old Doreen Bernice Shaw entered the plea Friday morning in Shasta County Superior Court.
The 18-year-veteran took a plea deal in exchange for felony probation after originally being charged with two counts of felony DUI with injury, one misdemeanor count of resisting or obstructing officers and enhancements.
Shaw was off duty when the Jan. 14 accident occurred, causing minor injuries to five people.
Her alleged blood alcohol ranged from 0.13 to 0.16, above the 0.08 legal driving limit, police said.
Redding police said Shaw admitted she was combative with officers after the wreck.
