LOS ANGELES — A man accused of stabbing to death an elementary school teacher in front of her students blamed the victim in a lawsuit for having his kids taken away from him during a custody dispute.
The Los Angeles Times reported Monday (http://lat.ms/1aGZJWj) that 50-year-old Steven Brown believed Kellye Taylor had told social workers he abused his children. Brown had been living with Taylor’s daughter and custody of all five children was given to Taylor in March.
Brown has been arrested for investigation of murder. Taylor was killed Friday at a playground near the Huntington Academy while two dozen children played nearby.
Court records show social workers received a number of calls alleging Brown and Taylor’s daughter had neglected and abused the children over the past seven years.
