LOS ANGELES — Authorities are investigating the unrelated deaths of two people while in the custody of Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies.

A woman being held at the sheriff’s station in Valencia died at about 12:30 p.m. Saturday but other details haven’t been released.

In Lancaster, a man died Saturday after he was handcuffed and placed in the back of a sheriff’s patrol car.

Deputies took the man into custody around 4 a.m. after reports that he was yelling at people in a house and acting bizarrely.

Authorities say deputies suspected the man was on drugs or alcohol and that he tried to kick out the patrol car windows before losing consciousness.

CPR failed to revive him and he was pronounced dead at the scene. His name hasn’t been released.
