SANTA ROSA — A judge has refused to return a pound of marijuana to a Northern California man accused of trying to sell it on the internet, even after two juries deadlocked and criminal charges were dismissed.
The Santa Rosa Press Democrat says the judge ruled that Krish Singh was attempting to make a profit, and failed to show that it was for his personal use, as required by the state law that legalizes marijuana for medicinal purposes.
The 44-year-old Rohnert Park man tried to sell the pound of pot for $2,700 on Craigslist.
Singh, who represented himself, pointed out that prosecutors later dropped the single felony count of possession for sale. But the judge responded it was Singh’s burden to prove the marijuana was something he was entitled to.
