Audi announces pricing on all-new Q3 compact crossover

Fans of Audi’s 2015 Q3 cute-ute will need just $33,425 to park one in their driveway when they go on sale later this year, Audi announced Thursday.

The all-new compact crossover will be Audi’s entry-level SUV, slotting below the Q5 and Q7. It’s one of several all-new models that brands such as Lexus, Lincoln, Porsche and eventually Jaguar are throwing into the compact SUV segment for the first time.

They’ve been lured into this smaller, downmarket space because its one of the fastest-growing segments in the industry. Younger, first-time luxe buyers are forgoing the traditional compact sedans for these crossovers. And aging baby-boomers are downsizing out of their larger luxury vehicles, but still want to be pampered.

The growth of this segment is one of the reasons that through May of this year, crossovers and SUVs took over as the most popular type of vehicle in the U.S. for the first time.

Audi’s 2015 Q3 will hope to lure those shoppers with a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that makes 200 horsepower and pushes power to the wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission. It will come standard in front-wheel-drive guise, with the brand’s quattro all-wheel-drive system commanding another $2,100.

Standard gear includes heated leather seats, a panoramic moonroof, dual-zone climate control, LED daytime running lights and seating for five. A navigation system and WiFi connectivity for up to eight devices will be available as options.

The Q3 will go on sale this fall.
