Vanden’s Williams named to all-state teams

FAIRFIELD — Elijah Williams has tackled another honor – even if they got his name wrong.

The middle linebacker in the Vanden High football team’s 3-5 defense and the Solano County Athletic Conference’s co-Defensive Player of the Year, was named to the Cal-Hi Sports All-State Medium Schools second team defense – listed as Elijah Woods – and the All-State juniors team.

“That’s good stuff,” Vanden coach LeVon Haynes said. “It means a lot. It just goes to show the hard work he’s put in that he did this season and the way he played, to be recognized as one of the top guys in the state is a great honor. He’s a kid that played extremely hard every down. We’re looking for him to come back and do it again next year as well.”

According to maxpreps.com, the junior led the SCAC in tackles with 111, despite the Vikings failing to make the playoffs for the first time since 2006.
