The Vikings’ Fernando Angulo (134) and Kyle Tygart (160) both finished 1-1 and will compete in the consolation bracket Saturday.
All other Vanden wrestlers were eliminated with 0-2 records.
Fairfield’s Albert Martinez (120) also moved into the semis with a 2-0 record, while Mark Beckendorf (138) and Cedric Page (285) went 1-1.
The Falcons’ Russell Sales (145) and Rito Gomez finished 1-2 and were eliminated.
The top four finishers Saturday advance to next weekend’s SJS Masters tournament at Stockton Arena.
Indians advance: At Vintage High in Napa, Armijo will send four wrestlers to the Masters tournament after the first day of the Division I tournament.
Darius Levan (106), Terrance Saeteurn (113), Hayden Scibek (134) and Billy Cimmino (184) were all 2-1 Friday and move on, with each guaranteed of finishing no worse than eighth.
Danny Charos (1-2, 173) was the only other Indian to record a victory Friday.
“It’s big for them,” Armijo coach Cesar Correa said. “It sounds easy, eight of 16 qualifying (for Masters), but there were no easy matches. . . . It’s a big boost knowing there’s another week of life.”
ROCKVILLE — Mike McKinney poured in a season-high 31 points and the Solano Community College men’s basketball team won its final home game of the season by edging Merritt of Oakland 84-83 Friday night.
Mike Stockton added 20 points and Corey Doran eight for the Falcons (11-15, 6-9 Bay Valley Conference), who took the lead for good with about 5 minutes left in the first half, but had to hang on at the end.
Solano has a bye on Wednesday and closes the season at Contra Costa of San Pablo on Friday.
