FAIRFIELD — The Vanden High boys soccer team remained perfect this season after a 5-2 Solano County Athletic Conference win over Vallejo, Wednesday.
The Vikings' first goal literally came in seconds as Yousef Rezagui scored in the 15th second on an assist from Patrick Dazo. It took Vanden until the 16th minute to score again, with Dazo scoring on an assist by Steward Pimienta, who also scored in the 17th on an assist from Rezagui and had an unassisted goal in the 67th.
Vallejo scored in 23rd and 42nd minutes while missing a penalty kick in the 89th, which was blocked by Hayden Konstantinopoulos who had four saves total.
Vanden (7-0-0, 4-0-0 SCAC) looks to continue its winning streak in the Solano County Athletic Conference at Fairfield, Monday.
Vintage 3, Armijo 1: At Napa, the Indians (4-4-1, 1-2-1 MEL) scored first on Sebastian Bouchet goal off a Christian Diaz in the 51st minute, but couldn’t find the net again.
The Crushers scored in the 57th, 64th and 87th minutes to secure the victory.
“I think we just kind of ran out of steam in the second half,” Armijo coach Brad Burzynski said.
Indians goalkeeper Hernan Perez saw 14 shots, recording 10 saves.
Armijo hosts crosstown rival Rodriguez on Monday.
Benicia 3, Fairfield 0: At Benicia, Alberto Martinez's good defense wasn't enough for the Falcons (2-1-1 SCAC) as the Panthers scored in the sixth, 17th and 45th minutes.
Fairfield hosts Vanden at Schafer Stadium on Monday.
Vacaville 3, Rodriguez 1: At Fairfield, the Mustangs' only goal came from a penalty kick by Misael Caballero.
Rodriguez (1-7, 0-4 SCAC) plays at Armijo on Monday.
