FAIRFIELD — The Vanden High baseball team scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning to pick up a 5-3 nonleague win over host Armijo, Saturday.
Evan Faccenda went 2 for 3 for the Vikings (3-1), driving in a run, while John Forsythe was 1 for 2 with two RBIs.
Alejandro Lara finished 0-3 but had an RBI on a sacrifice fly for Vanden, which also got hits from Alvaro Rubalcaba, Adam Spini and Eno Evans.
Rylan Haney started for the Vikings, allowing just a single run on four hits in four innings while striking out five. Spini picked up the win in relief, allowing just one earned in two innings while allowing two hits.
Armijo (0-5) managed six hits, including a 2 for 3 performance by Clayton Espino, who also knocked in a run. Chris Parodi (1-3) and Kyle Elledge (1-4) also had RBIs for the Indians.
Garlind Webster finished 1-3 with a double, while Jason Brasile was 1 for 3. Webster, Hayden Del Dotto and Mike Faulstich each scored for Armijo.
Brian Weisz started on the mound for the Indians, allowing four hits and three unearned over five innings on 60 pitches, striking out two. Parodi picked up the loss in relief, allowing two earned runs in one inning.
Armijo (2-2) won the JV game 5-4, with Jared Vitug, Tyler Reames and Jacob Bader each driving in runs. Vitug and Reames each had doubles.
Armijo is back in action Monday at Bethel, while Vanden is at Wood, also Monday.
