Vanden girls still undefeated in SCAC play

VALLEJO — The Vanden High girls basketball team cruised to a 80-17 Solano County Athletic Conference win over Vallejo, Tuesday.

The Vikings (18-5, 7-0 SCAC) opened a 30-6 lead after the opening quarter and rolled from there.

Kayla Blair led Vanden, which has won 21 straight conference games, with 22 points, Kiana Moore added 18 and Brittany Kirbyson scored 14.

The Vikings play at Bethel, which handed them their last SCAC defeat in 2012, Tuesday.

 Vanden JV 42, Vallejo 21: At Vallejo, the Vikings (16-5, 6-1 SCAC) got 14 points from Brooklin Crawford and 12 from Krystal Gonzalez in a win over the Apaches.

Afrika Collier and Aryel Moreland added five points each for Vanden, who hosts Bethel, Tuesday.

Fairfield wins varsity, JV games at home

FAIRFIELD — The Fairfield High boys basketball team improved to 6-1 in Solano County Athletic Conference play with a 74-53 win over American Canyon, Thursday.

Demoriaye Hart-Spikes led the Falcons (20-4, 61 SCAC) with 17 points and Maurice Trotter added 11.

Fairfield won the JV game 79-62 behind 22 points from Cameron Ross-Reed, while G’Angelo Jenkins added 15.

Terrell Jenkins scored 13 for the Falcons (11-9, 6-1 SCAC) and Devin Ross-Reed added 11.

Fairfield plays at Benicia, Tuesday.

 Vanden JV 44, Vallejo 39: At Vanden, the Vikings (5-15, 2-6 SCAC) got a win over the Apaches.

Jordan Williams put Vanden ahead to stay with a three-point play with 1:31 remaining and finished with 14 points, as did Phoenix Shackelford.

The Vikings host Bethel, Tuesday.

Solano scores early, then falls on road

SAN MATEO — The Solano Community College baseball team took a 2-0 lead in the first inning but couldn’t make it hold up in a 6-2 loss to College of San Mateo, Thursday.

The Falcons’ Evan Faccenda singled to center field in the opening inning to score David Fernandez, with Faccendo eventually scoring on a walk by Dareion Evans later in the inning.

Ryan Earnest started on the mound for Solano (1-3), pitching five innings while giving up two hits and one run while striking out six and walking two.

Angel Lara walked three and gave up two earned runs, suffering the loss.

Fernandez finished with two hits for SCC, while Nick Perez, Faccendo, Trever Faulkner, Ignatius Llorence, Evans and Erick Olson each had one hit.
