FOLSOM — The Vacaville High football team fell to Folsom 49-13 late Saturday night in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division II playoffs.

David Mewborn scored on a 4-yard touchdown run for the Bulldogs (8-4), while Curtis Goins scored the other Vacaville touchdown on a 7-yard run, according to maxpreps.com,

Vacaville’s defense had a hard time stopping Folsom’s potent passing attack.

Folsom quarterback Jake Browning threw for 376 yards and five touchdowns, completing 27 of 43 passes, also according to maxpreps.com.

Vacaville, which faces Folsom for the third straight time in the playoffs, defeated Folsom 39-36 to win the Division I championship last season, with Folsom winning 75-6 in 2010. Folsom scored all of its 75 points in the opening half of that game to set a section record for points in a half.

No. 1 Folsom (12-0) advances to the SJS Division II semifinals, where it will host No. 5 Buhach Colony (10-2) Friday at 7 p.m.

That's what happens when you put your trust more into the system other then allowing your elite athletes to contribute on offense. There was just not enough fire power on Defense to sustain that potent offense of Folsom so what needed to happen is trading of scores and play the clock game. There is no next year because last years and this years Vacaville team is very hard to come by. Look for Vacaville to take a back seat for at least 3 years.
