DAVIS — Randy Wright tossed an 8-yard scoring pass to Taylor Sloat with 10:35 left in the game, allowing UC Davis to rally for a 34-27 victory over Sacramento State on Saturday.
UC Davis (4-7, 3-5 Big Sky) was able to come back after a 2-yard run by Ezekiel Graham and PAT by Edgar Castaneda had given Sacramento State (6-5, 4-4) a 27-26 lead with 13:25 left in the game.
Sacramento State quarterback Saffron Garrett had a productive day, completing 37 of 66 passes for 324 yards and a pair of TDs. He also threw an interception and was sacked five times.
Sloat caught seven passes for 109 yards. Graham picked up 108 yards on the ground on 12 carries, including a 2-yard touchdown run. Graham also caught seven passes for 81 yards
The Aggies Wright finished the night completing 14 of 37 passes for 181 yards with an interception.
Colton Silveria led UC Davis’s ground attack, running the ball 17 times for 87 yards, while Marquis Nicolis was next in line for the Aggies with 66 yards on 12 carries.
Sacramento State held the ball for more than 32 minutes compared to UC Davis’ 27 minutes, and also had 28 first downs compared to the Aggies’ 21.
Both teams were penalized heavily, with the Hornets being flagged eight times for 71 yards and the Aggies six times for 66 yards.
