SUISUN CITY — Angad Takhar’s pitching led the Cordelia/Tri-Valley Giants to a 10-2 victory over the Napa National champions in the District 53 Tournament of Championship semifinals at the Labrecht Sports Complex, Wednesday.

The Giants advance to the championship game and will play the winner of Thursday’s Fairfield Pacific Giants-North Vallejo semifinal game in Napa.

Takhar pitched five shutout innings, striking out 11, allowing three hits and three walks.

Heading into the fourth inning tied at 0-0, the Giants scored first as Stevie Johnston drew a walk and scored on an RBI single by Max Wilson.

The Giants made it 2-0 in the top of the fifth as Johnston hit a single, bringing in Damon Magallanes, who was hit by a pitch, advancing into scoring position on a passed ball.

The Giants blew the game open in the top of the sixth, scoring eight runs on eight hits. Wilson, Phillip Palmer, Johnston and Takhar all hit doubles in the inning.

Napa scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth with no outs, then Alan Cordoza, third baseman for the Giants, snagged a line drive and threw to first for the double play and the first two outs. Pitcher Miguel DeLeon then struck out the final batter to close out the game.

Wilson had three hits and two RBIs for the Giants, with Palmer, Cyere Randle and Takhar also driving in two runs. Jarod Sloan stole two bases for the Giants.

The championship game will be held at noon on Saturday in Napa.
