The Week Ahead: Solano softball team looks to end regular season with wins

FAIRFIELD — Talk about heading into the postseason on a roll.

The Solano Community College softball team has a chance to end the regular season with a 29-game winning streak when it hosts Los Medanos of Pittsburgh in a Bay Valley Conference doubleheader, Tuesday afternoon.

First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.

The Falcons (34-2, 18-0) haven’t lost since dropping a 4-1 decision at San Joaquin Delta on May 4, have already clinched their ninth straight BVC title and are ranked second in the state by the California Community College Fast Pitch Coaches Association.

The first round of the regional playoffs is set for May 3-4.

Here’s a look at the rest of a busy week:


The Armijo High boys tennis team looks to wrap up an undefeated Monticello Empire League season when it travels to Rodriguez.

The Rodriguez badminton has a nonleague clash at home against Benicia.


The Solano baseball team opens its final week of the season at Marin.

In high school baseball, Armijo is at Vacaville, Fairfield at Benicia, Vanden at Bethel and Rodriguez at Vintage.

Crosstown rivals battle when the Armijo and Rodriguez boys golf teams meet at Rancho Solano. In nonleague action, Vanden plays Rio Vista at Trilogy.

The Armijo girls soccer team has a crucial home match with Vacaville with the winner getting the edge in the battle for second place in the MEL. Other games feature Rodriguez at Napa, Vanden at Bethel and Fairfield at Benicia.

Fairfield’s badminton team heads to Benicia.


Armijo’s softball team takes its swings against unbeaten Vacaville. The day’s other softball action has Fairfield at Vanden and Rodriguez at Vintage.

In badminton, Rodriguez is at Vintage, while Fairfield hosts American Canyon in swimming.

The MEL has a four-way track meet at Armijo with Rodriguez, Napa and Vintage also competing at Brownlee Field.


Solano holds its final home game of the season when it entertains Marin.

The day’s high school action has the second round of home-and-home games with Vacaville at Armijo, Benicia at Fairfield, Bethel at Vanden and Vintage at Rodriguez.

The MEL holds its boys singles tennis tournament at Vintage and its diving competition at Rodriguez.

In girls soccer, American Canyon is at Vanden, Rodriguez at Vintage, Wood at Armijo and Bethel at Fairfield.

Vallejo is at Fairfield in badminton.


The Solano baseball team concludes its season at Marin.

The MEL has its singles finals and holds its doubles competition, while the league has its swimming trials at Rodriguez.

The final day of softball for the week has Armijo at Vintage, Wood at Rodriguez, Fairfield at Benicia and Vanden at Vallejo.

Badminton has Armijo at Vintage and Rodriguez at Davis.


Rodriguez hosts the MEL swimming finals, while the Mustangs baseball team plays Sac-Joaquin Section power Elk Grove at Sacramento City College.

In track and field, Rodriguez is in the James Logan Invitational at Union City.
