The Week Ahead: Plenty of action besides NorCal hoops

FAIRFIELD — Aside from the NorCal boys and girls basketball playoffs getting underway, there’s plenty of other sports action going on. Here’s a look at the best for this week:

Monday

Former Solano County Athletic Conference rivals collide when Rodriguez heads to Vanden to play baseball.

Tuesday

The Solano baseball team begins Bay Valley Conference play when it hosts Mendocino of Ukiah.

High school baseball features Sheldon of Sacramento at Rodriguez and Inderkum of Sacramento at Vanden.

Boys tennis continues in the SCAC with Vanden at American Canyon and Vallejo at Fairfield.

Girls soccer matches include Vacaville at Armijo, American Canyon at Fairfield, Rodriguez at Napa and Vanden at Vallejo.

In boys golf action, Armijo plays Napa at Chardonnay, Vanden hosts Benicia at Green Tree and Vacaville takes on Rodriguez at Rancho Solano.

The Vanden softball team hits the road to play at Winters.

Wednesday

Badminton play heads up with Rodriguez going to Vintage and Armijo hosting Vacaville.

Boys tennis in the MEL has Vacaville at Armijo and Napa at Rodriguez.

The softball campaign kicks off with Vacaville at Armijo and Rodriguez at Vintage.

The Fairfield swim teams host Bethe.

In track and field, Wood is at Armijo, Rodriguez at Vintage and Vanden at Bethel.

Thursday

The Solano baseball team makes the return trip to Mendocino, while the Solano softball squad hosts Yuba in a BVC doubleheader.

Badminton has Fairfield taking on American Canyon at Ronald D. Thompson Gymnasium.

There’s plenty of good baseball with Napa at Armijo, American Canyon at Fairfield, Vacaville at Rodriguez, and Vanden at Vallejo.

Boys tennis features Fairfield at Bethel and Benicia at Vanden.

With most of the action under the lights, girls soccer games have Benicia at Vanden, Rodriguez at Vintage,

Wood at Armijo and Vallejo at Fairfield.

Armijo’s boys golf hosts Wood at Rancho Solano, while Vanden entertains Bethel at Green Tree.

Rodriguez begins play in the three-day Elk Grove/Sacramento Victory softball tournament.

Friday

The Solano swim teams compete in the San Mateo Invitational.

Badminton wraps up for the week with Armijo at Vintage and Wood at Rodriguez.

In the first of three crosstown matchups, the Armijo boys tennis team is at Rodriguez.

For softball teams not participating in weekend tournaments, Armijo is at Vintage, Fairfield at Benicia and Vanden at Vallejo.

Saturday

Solano concludes its three-game series with Mendocino by hosting the Eagles.

The Solano teams opens play in the two-day Ohlone Tournament in Fremont.

In track and field, Rodriguez is in the Martinez Relays at Alhambra, while Armijo is in the Dublin Fiesta.
