Takeda, Mestas pitch SCC softball team to win over ARC

SACRAMENTO — The Solano Community College softball team improved to 6-1 on the season with a 7-4 win over American River College, Thursday.

Amber Takeda picked up the win for the Falcons, allowing three hits and three runs in four innings of work. Shannon Mestas got the save, pitching the final three innings, allowing just one run while striking out four.

Emily Goode was 1 for 4 with two RBIs for SCC, while Aleyna Benipayo and Stefanie Chainurux were 1 for 4 with an RBI each. Cecilia Salas was 1 for 3 with a double.

The Falcons travel to play Diablo Valley College at 2 p.m., Tuesday.

Big inning by Bear Cubs does in Falcons

ROCKVILLE — The Solano Community College baseball yielded five runs in the top of the second inning and never recovered in dropping a 6-3 nonconference game to Santa Rosa, Thursday.

The Falcons took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, but didn’t score again until the ninth.

Dareion Evans doubled and had two RBIs, while Trever Faulkner plated Solano’s other run. Robert Contreras went 2 for 4 to lead the Falcons’ attack, while Faulkner, Tucker Bishop, Evan Faccenda, Ignatius Llorence and Andrew Harris also had hits.

The same two teams play in Santa Rosa on Saturday at 1 p.m.
