JC baseball: Solano’s late rally falls short in 6-5 loss to Marin

By From page B7 | April 25, 2014

ROCKVILLE — The Solano Community College baseball team couldn’t put the final touches on a ninth-inning rally as it scored two runs but fell 6-5 to College of Marin in Bay Valley Conference play, Thursday.

The Falcons (10-24, 8-12 BVC) began the 6-3 ninth-inning deficit with a lead-off walk and a hit from Anthony Morris and Alvaro Rubalcalba, respecitvely. After Erick Olson grounded out and advanced the two base runners, Trevor Faulkner singled to bring in two runs. The rally was ended as SCC hit into a 6-4-3 double play.

Faulkner brought in every run for the Falcons as he was 2 for 5 from the plate. The other three RBIs came in the home half of the first as he hit a three-run homer. The only other extra-base hit for SCC was from Ian Acosta, who was 2 for 3 with a double.

The Falcons have lost 12 games by one run this season and seven in the last nine games.

SCC wraps up its season as it looks to avoid the series sweep against Marin in Kentfield, Friday.
