QUINCY — The Solano Community College volleyball team’s season came to an end Tuesday night with a first-round playoff loss to host Feather River.

The No. 15 Falcons (19-9) were swept in three sets, but they battled hard in two of them, losing 25-18, 25-9, 25-20.

“The first set and the third set we were neck and neck,” said Falcons coach Darla Williams.

In that third set, the Falcons took a 5-2 lead. The Eagles tied it and it was back and forth the rest of the way.

“They’re not just No. 2 in Northern California, but ranked fourth in state,” Williams said.

Lainey Brown led Solano serving 10 for 10 with 9 digs.

Courtney Sanchez was 6 for 6 at the line, while Natalie Perry led the offense with four kills.

Pilar Washington added three kills and two blocks.

Emily Skinner had six digs and a pair of kills.

“Everyone played two of the three sets,” Williams said. “It was good experience for the freshmen to have going into next year.”

She was also glad her sophomores had a chance to play in the postseason after missing last year’s playoffs.

“Even getting beat up in that second set, they never gave up,” Williams said. “Now, I’ll rebuild and figure out next year.”
