ROCKVILLE — After Yuba College scored a run in the top of the ninth inning to tie it, Jacob Pavlosky singled in Giovanni Torres in the bottom of the frame to lift the Solano Community College baseball team to a 2-1 Bay Valley Conference victory, Friday.
The Falcons (10-21, 8-10 BVC) took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third when Trever Faulkner doubled in Robert Contreras with two outs.
Starter Chris Rost threw six shutout innings, allowing four hits and no walks while striking out three.
Drew Lamont earned the victory in relief, going the final three innings, allowing three hits and one run. Faulkner, Torres, Jacob Pavlosky and Alvaro Rubalcaba each had two hits.
Solano closes the season with three games against Marin next week, starting with a road contest on Tuesday.
Panthers top Vikings in showdown for SCAC lead
BENICIA — The Vanden High softball team saw its chance to tie for first place in the Solano County Athletic Conference with a 6-4 loss to league-leading Benicia, Friday.
The Vikings (10-5, 5-2 SCAC) took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but Benicia (7-4, 7-0 SCAC) countered with two runs in the bottom of the inning and added two more in the fourth and fifth frames.
Vanden could only counter with single runs in the fourth, fifth and seventh.
Hope Brandner led the Vikings by going 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs, while Kiwi McDaniel was 2 for 3 with a solo home run. Talia Trujillo drove in Vanden’s other run.
McDaniel took the loss, giving up nine hits and six runs (two earned) with two strikeouts and four walks.
Vanden hosts Fairfield, Wednesday.
