ROCKVILLE — Ariel Clay scored 17 points and added six rebounds and four steals as the Solano Community College women’s basketball team survived a late rally by Sacramento City College to open the Solano Showdown with a 66-60 victory, Friday.
Taylor Hamilton was next with 10 points, while Justice Robinson and Denisha Lundy each added eight with Lundy also contributing six rounds, three steals and two assists. Nikki Andaya had six points and four steals.
Solano, which never trailed, led 31-24 at the half and upped its lead to 14 before the Panthers rallied to tie it at 56. The Falcons then went on a 4-0 run and led the rest of the way.
Solano (5-3) plays Consumnes River in the winner’s bracket finals on Saturday at 6 p.m.
