Armijo falls to Pittsburg in tourney action
VACAVILLE — The Armijo High girls basketball team dropped into the losers’ bracket of the Power of One Tournament after it lost 62-37 to Pittsburg, Thursday.
The Indians (3-8) were only outscored 40-33 in the final three periods of the game, but it was the first quarter which hurt them as they were outscored 22-4.
“We need to take better care of the ball,” Armijo coach Lawrence Trigg said. “We weren’t making good passes.”
Trigg said the Indians had more than 40 turnovers in the loss, but did see improvement in the second, third and fourth quarters.
Jada Williams led the Indians with 22 points and finished 12 of 14 from the free throw line. Passion Ware added seven points, while Aniyah Ruffin had 13 rebounds.
Armijo will play against Fortuna High, at 3:30 p.m., Friday.
