SCC women fall in tournament consolation semifinals

VISALIA — The Solano Community College women’s basketball team fell to L.A. Valley College 58-42 in the consolation semifinals of the Tom Gilcrest Invitational Saturday night.

Ariel Clay led the Falcons (3-3) with 12 points and added nine rebounds. Kristina Kountouris added six points, eight rebounds and two assists for Solano, while Taylor Hamilton had six points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals.

The Falcons are back in action starting Friday when they host Chabot in the opening round of the Solano Showdown.

Vanden enjoys success at Vallejo tournament

VALLEJO — Then Vanden High wrestling team enjoyed some success Saturday during the Vallejo Invitational.

Kyle Tygart, Albert Bernales and Brandon Dontogan all finished first, while Keenan Ruth and Mikel Bohanon finished second.

Derek Bruner and Fernando Angulo finished third for the boys, while Chanel Cole was third in the girls tournament.

Armijo takes 7th in Central Valley Showdown

FRESNO — The Armijo High girls basketball team defeated Clovis North 43-31 Saturday night to finish seventh in the Central Valley Showdown at Clovis West High.

Justice Robinson-Kroon score 39 points in four games for the Indians (2-2) and was named to the all-tournament team.

Marshanique Hall added 35 points in the four games and Melaya Gaines chipped in 34 for Armijo, who plays at Bethel on Friday.
