Solano cruises past host Yuba
MARYSVILLE — The Solano Community College volleyball team continued its hot start with a 3-0 sweep of defending Bay Valley Conference champion Yuba College, Friday.
The Falcons (9-2, 3-0 BVC) rolled past the host 49ers 26-24, 25-17, 25-20
Hope Grace led Solano going 16 for 16 serving with an ace and 5 kills.
Vanessa Pimentel served 11 for 11 with two aces and 16 assists
Gabby Silva had game highs with 11 kills and six blocks.
Brittany Smith contributed seven kills and two blocks, while Brianna Krystek had 6 kills.
Janelle Williams added four blocks and Makayla Salazar had two.
“(It was a) big win, they were conference champs last season,” said Solano coach Darla Williams. “We put things together, had some highlights at the net, players stepped up in different areas to put the win away for us.”
The Falcons have a bye on Wednesday before hosting Laney of Oakland Friday at 6 p.m.
Calvary Baptist bounces Bethel Christian 51-18
FAIRFIELD — The Calvary Baptist Christian School boys basketball team topped Bethel Christian Academy 51-18 Friday.
Jacob Davis controlled the paint with 28 points and 19 rebounds while Armanni Graham poured in 18 points to give the Eagles a win in their first game.
After a slow start the Eagles used their size and quickness to get a 25-point lead in the second quarter and never looked back.
The Eagles travel to Antioch on Tuesday to play the Heritage Christian Academy Rams.
Local league holding toy drive fundraiser
SUISUN CITY — The Authentic Baseball League is holding a home run derby to raise funds for a toy drive for the holidays.
The derby is Saturday at the Suisun American Little League fields at the Lambrecht Sports Complex, 4501 Peterson Road in Suisun City, at 10 a.m. It is ages 9-13. Fees apply.
