SCC stops Napa comeback for conference win

FAIRFIELD — The Solano Community College baseball team scored early and held on to a 5-4 win over Napa College in Bay Valley Conference action, Saturday.

The Falcons (8-20, 6-9 BVC) were up 5-1 after seven innings, but the Storm scored two in the eighth and tripled in one in the ninth, making it a 5-4 game with a man on third and two outs. After a walk, SCC’s David Fernandez ended up earning his second save as he struck out Napa’s Brandon Ortega.

Jacob Pavlosky led the Falcons with 2 RBIs as he tripled in Fernandez and Robert Contreras in the bottom of the first.

Nick Perez and Fernandez had one RBI apiece as Perez was 2 for 3 with a triple, while Fernandez was 4 for 4.

Dylan Dumapay got the win on the mound for SCC as he went five innings, allowing one run on six hits with three strikeouts. Chris Rost pitched three innings, allowing two runs on three hits, striking out two.

The Falcons travel to Yuba City College, Tuesday.
