SCC softball team wins big over DVC

PLEASANT HILL — The Solano Community College softball team rolled over Diablo Valley College in a 10-0 nonconference, five-inning rout, Tuesday.

Shannon Mestas got the win for the Falcons (8-1), allowing just one hit over four innings, striking out three batters.

Mestas also led the team at the plate, going 2 for 4 with a two-run home run. Stefanie Chainurux was 2 for 3 with two RBIs, while Jasmine Hornsby-Edwards also had two RBIs going 1 for 1. Britney Taglieri was 2 for 4 and Angelay Kazen was 2 for 3.

SCC hosts Delta, Tuesday.

Falcons fall to American River in 10 innings

ROCKVILLE — The Solano Community College baseball team lost 6-5 in 10 innings to American River, Tuesday.

The Falcons (1-9) were up 5-3 after eight innings but allowed the Vikings to score two in the ninth to tie it.

James Harris was the starter for SCC, going seven innings, allowing seven hits and three earned runs, while striking out six.

Alvaro Rubalcaba led the Falcons with three hits and three RBIs, while Dareion Evans had two hits and one RBI – each having a double.

SCC travels to play Sac City at 1 p.m., Saturday.
