SCC softball team tops Cosumnes for first win

SACRAMENTO — The Solano Community College softball team evened its record in the young season with a 5-3 victory over host Cosumnes River College Saturday.

Alesia Selden went the distance for the Falcons (1-1), striking out five and surrendering three runs on six hits.

Britney Taglieri led Solano at the plate with two hits, including a triple and two RBIs.

Stephanie Chainurux added a pair of hits and drove in two, while Dana Rivera also had two hits.

Solano returns home Tuesday to face Diablo Valley College.

Falcons beat up by Bulldogs

SAN MATEO — A day after knocking off the top team in the state, the Solano Community College baseball team took one on the chin, suffering a 17-8 setback at the hans of host College of San Mateo Saturday afternoon.

Falcons starter Ryan Anderson didn’t get out of the third inning, when the Bulldogs put up 10 runs, erasing Solano’s 6-0 lead.

Solano (3-1) managed to rack up 11 hits, but it wasn’t enough against a 22-hit barrage from San Mateo.

Nick Spini drove in a pair of runs for the Falcons, while Justin Quilatan added a double and an RBI.

Edgar Ibarra and Davis Fernandez had two hits each and Alex Crosby had a pair of hits and an RBI.

Solano is home Tuesday and will host Mission College at 2 p.m.
