SARATOGA — The Solano Community College baseball team fell to West Valley 11-7 in its season opener, Tuesday.

The Falcons (0-1) led 2-1 after two innings but gave up five runs in the third. They went on to score two more times in the fifth and three times in the eighth, but it was too little, too late.

David Fernandez led SCC at the plate, finishing 3 for 4 with a double, while Dareion Evans went 2 for 4 with a double, a home run and four RBIs.

Ignatius Llorence also had two hits for the Falcons, while Erick Olson was 1 for 2 with a double.

Drew Lamont struggled on the mound for the Falcons, lasting just two innings. He gave up nine hits, six runs – all earned – and one homer.

Coach Scott Stover used five pitchers in relief, none of whom pitched more than 2 1-3 innings.

SCC plays at Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill at 2 p.m., Thursday, then hosts DVC in its home opener at 1 p.m., Saturday.
