PIEDMONT — Destiny Greenwood had 10 points and as many rebounds, and Jannessa Boling sank two free throws with 4 seconds left to ice the win as the Rodriguez High girls basketball team advanced to the championship game of the Paris Twins Classic with a 49-45 win over host Piedmont, Friday.
Greenwood added two blocks two steals and an assist, while Boling finished with eight points, three assists, two steals and two rebounds. Briana Haynes contributed six points, four assists, two rebounds and a steal.
The Mustangs (4-4), who never held the lead until the fourth quarter, play either Oakland or Eastside Prep in the title game, Saturday, at 2:30 p.m.
Vanden 54, Brookside Christian 50: At Oakland, Kiana Moore poured in 13 points and Brooke Gibbins drained back-to-back 3-pointers to give the Vikings (4-0) a 25-23 halftime lead en route to the victory in the Elite Shootout at Laney College.
Vanden, which trailed 11-6 after the first quarter before rallying, got nine points from Julia Blackshell-Fair, eight from Kayla Blair and seven points and 14 rebounds from Aleseana Whitney.
The Vikings next play St. Ignatius of San Francisco, the team that knocked them out of last season’s NorCal quarterfinals, at Laney, Saturday, at 3 p.m.
Vanden JV 70, Del Oro JV 62, OT: At Sacramento, the Vikings (3-1) moved on to the championship game of the Kennedy tournament by outscoring the Golden Eagles, 13-5 in overtime.
Azanae Lewis led Vanden with 27 points, while Macie Saunders followed with 11 and Krystal Gonzales and Monet Lewis each scored 10.
The Vikings will play St. Francis in the championship game, Saturday, at 2:30 p.m.
