FOLSOM — Hayden Scibek went 3-1 at 138 pounds and Kris Elkin went 3-1 at heavyweight as each took second in helping the Armijo High wrestling team to a fourth-place finish in the 24-team Eagle Classic at Vista del Lago High, Saturday.
Folsom, coached by former Fairfield High standout Mike Collier, won the team title.
Also placing for the Indians were Cameron Hibbert (138, 3-1 third), Danny Charos (170, 3-2, fourth), Amini Kapapa (182, 4-1, fifth), Houston Scibek (121, 3-2, sixth) and Billy Cimmino (220, 3-2 sixth).
Armijo’s junior varsity team took part in the Vallejo JV Tournament with five wrestlers coming away with pool weight championships. Winning for the Indians were Shy’kiel Robinson (170), Ryan Kardos (152), Charlie Ellington (145), Armando Azpeitia (138) and
Alex Yalong (122).
Placing second were Trevor Davis (114), Tiana Dixon (125), Isaiah Valentine (114) and Matthew Mendoza (106), while Carlos Forcardilla (120) and Sean Manasan (120) took third.
The Indians are in the San Marin tournament in Novato, Saturday.
Vanden also competed in the Vallejo JV tournament with Chris Crutcher (114) and Daniel Renbarger (106) winning championships. Isaac Fiol (152) placed second, while Jake Saunders (220), Caleb Arbona (138) and Javoni Ramirez (103) took third and Christian Bronson (140) was fourth.
The Vikings next compete in the Foothill tournament in Pleasant Hill, while its girls take part in a tournament in San Leandro.
