FAIRFIELD — The Armijo High wrestling team got a pin from Darius Levan at 108 pounds, but got only three other wins in falling 54-16 to state power Vacaville in a Monticello Empire League dual match at E. Gary Vaughn Gymnasium, Wednesday.
The Indians (1-1) got decisions by Hayden Scibek at 140 and Jorge Perez at 160, as well as a major decision by Vishav Singh at 147.
In addition to two forfeits, the Bulldogs (2-0) got pins by Will Dietrich (128), Hayden Fry (154), James Probis (184) and Mike McCauley (heavyweight).
Armijo’s JV team came away with a 31-24 victory. The Indians got a pin from Armando Azpeitia (147), a major decision from Anthony Nelson (197) and decisions from Alex Yalong (122), Carlos Forcadilla (128) and Charlie Ellington (140), as well as forfeits to Richard Wolf (222) and Jordan Sandefur (heavyweight).
The Indians host the Armijo Invitational on Saturday and travel to Napa next Wednesday.
American Canyon 50, Vanden 18: At Fairfield, the Vikings (0-2 SCAC) earned consecutive forfeits by Kyle Griffin (171), Brandon Dontogan (184) and Xavier Penrod (191).
“We lost so many 50-50 matches it was unreal,” Vanden coach Lloyd Wilson said.
The Vikings will participate in the Armijo Invitational on Saturday and take on Bethel in Vallejo on Wednesday.
Bethel 45, Fairfield 12: At Fairfield, the Falcons (0-2) had Itzia Portales (106) win by forfeit and Mark Beckendorf (152) earn a pin.
After competing in the Armijo Invitational on Saturday, Fairfield hosts Benicia next Wednesday.
