Prep track: Vacaville hurdlers set national record in rare event

By April 16, 2014

ARCADIA — It’s an event that’s held in only a few meets, and a quartet from Vacaville High now holds the national record for it.

The foursome of Nia Vance, Jurnee Woodward, Pattriana Perry and Daria Cook set a new national record in the girls 4×100-meter shuttle hurdle relay with a time of 57.17 seconds at the Arcadia Invitational, Friday, shattering the long-standing old mark of 57.49 seconds by J.W. North of Riverside in 2003.

“It is a very significant accomplishment as they are one of only four prep teams ever to dip under 59 seconds,” Vacaville coach Mike Papadopoulos said in an email.
