Prep softball: Vikings’ Brandner named SCAC’s top player

FAIRFIELD — Hope Brandner of the Vanden High softball team hit the cover off the ball her freshman year and the coaches in the Solano County Athletic Conferences rewarded her for it by naming her the SCAC’s Player of the Year, Monday.

Brandner hit .478 for the season with 12 doubles, six home runs and 37 RBIs, and was especially impressive in conference play, hitting .490 with 11 doubles, five home runs and 33 RBIs.

Also on the all-SCAC first team from Vanden are sophomore Kiwi McDaniel and seniors Alexis McMahon and Talia Trujillo.

Receiving honorable mention are freshman Korie Corral, sophomore Bailey Tingley and senior Haile Sheppard.
