Prep softball: Vanden rolls to 14-0 win over Fairfield

FAIRFIELD — The Vanden High softball team only needed five innings as it shut out Fairfield 14-0 in Solano County Athletic Conference action, Wednesday.

The Vikings (11-5, 6-2 SCAC) scored one run in the bottom of the first before exploding for 11 runs in the second inning.

Kiwi McDaniel hit a grand slam as she was 2 for 4 at the plate with 4 four RBIs, while Jaycie Ruggiero was 3 for 3 with three RBIs.

Talia Trujillo had a triple and an RBI with Lauryn Zabat adding an RBI as she was 1 for 3.

Bailey Tingley pitched the complete game and allowed two hits with two strikeouts.

Vanden travels to Vallejo, Friday.
