Prep softball: Rodriguez gets 4-2 over powerhouse Sheldon

By April 30, 2014

FAIRFIELD — Melissa Eisen ripped a solo home run and Brenna Mitchell tossed a five-hitter to lift the Rodriguez High softball team to a 4-2 win over traditional state power Sheldon of Sacramento, Monday.

Eisen went 2 for 3, as did Cassidy Lanza, with each driving in a run. Ciara Bell had the other hit for the Mustangs (10-13) with an RBI and Lauren Riddle also plated a run.

Given a 3-0 lead over Sheldon (15-8) in the first inning, Mitchell surrendered just two runs, only one of which was earned, and struck out six with one walk.

Rodriguez hosts unbeaten and MEL-leading Vacaville, Wednesday.
