FAIRFIELD — Kayla Blair led three Vanden High players in double figures and the Vikings outscored Armijo 36-3 in the second quarter en route to a 76-12 nonleague girls basketball victory at JIm Boyd Gym, Saturday.
Brittany Kirbyson scored 12 points and Julia Blackshell-Fair 11 for Vanden (3-0), while Kiana Moore and Chantell Greer each added nine and Mariah Williams eight.
Passion Ware led Armijo with four points.
“Our girls were respectfully competitive and played against the game,” Vikings coach Allison Johnson said. “It did not get chippy, it was two teams playing against the game. It was very respectful both ways, two teams playing basketball, which is a good thing.”
The Vikings next play against Brookside Christian of Stockton in the Elite Shootout at Laney College of Oakland, Friday. Armijo is at Davis, Tuesday.
In the JV game, Vanden (1-1) defeated Armijo 75-17. Azanae Lewis led the Vikings with 14, while Monet Lewis had 12 and Krystal Gonzalez 10.
Vanden’s JV team will play on Thursday in the Robby Nakamura Holiday Classic at Kennedy of Sacramento, opening up against Pleasant Grove at 8 p.m.
