LOOMIS — The Armijo High girls basketball team got its first win of the season by downing the Del OroJV team 38-33 in the first round of the Del Oro Tournament, Friday.
The Indians (1-4) were led by Aniyah Ruffin with 12 points, while Passion Ware added nine points and 12 rebounds, eight on the offensive end.
According to Indians coach Lawrence Trigg, Armijo only had seven available players, which caused them to slow down and conserve energy.
“It was nice to see they slowed down and were patient,” Trigg said, adding that they “took care of the ball” and “were patient.”
Armijo will play for fifth place, Saturday, at 2:30 p.m.
