ROCKVILLE — The Rodriguez High and Will C. Wood cross country teams met at Rockville Hills Park, Wednesday, splitting the meet with two wins each.
The Wildcat boys varsity team won 17-38, finishing 1-2-3-4. Ajaypal Singh came in first in 16 minutes, 16 seconds, followed by Shaun Krum (second, 16:42), Scott Dye (third, 17:05), Riley Smith (fourth, 17:16) and Avinash Badlamudi (10th, 18:17).
Rodriguez’s top finisher was Jesse Jones, coming in fifth place in 17:18 and Anthony Vogliano followed in sixth with 17:29. Jake Jones was eighth in 17:47, while Mitchell Velasquez (ninth, 17:52) and Marcos Moreno (10th, 18:17) rounded the Mustangs.
The Mustangs’ varsity girls team won 24-31, with Halle Sullivan (first, 19:45) and Makenzie Alspaw (second, 20:51) leading the way. Andrea Hernandez, Emma Vogliano and Carina Guetierrez finished sixth, seventh and eighth, respectively.
Amanda Barthelmes, Paige Peck and Katie Tinder finished 3-4-5 for the Wildcats, while Justine Kieffer and Hannah Cushing finished 14th and 15th, respectively.
The Will C. Wood JV boys team came out on top with a 15-50 win, with Ryan Fino (first) finishing in 14:49. Rodriguez’s Alana Ewart was the top finisher for the JV girls’ with a 19:11 time as the Mustangs won.
The Wildcats next race is Saturday at the Bronco Invitational in Folsom. Their next SCAC meet is Wednesday against Vacaville at Lagoon Valley Park.
Vanden boys second in SCAC Center Meet: At Vallejo, Jacque Henderson was the Vikings’ top finisher in third place with a time of 18:45. Justin Alvarez (19:01) was eighth, while Caleb Stiles (19:51) finished 11th. Aidan Hayes (20:08), Victor Kusaka (20:10) and Erick Fierro (20:11) finished 14th-16th, respectively.
The top girls finisher was Alex Jenks with her 21:43 second place finish.
Jamarian Johnson (seventh, 13:42) led the frosh-soph boys, while Will DeVoe (13:44) followed with his eighth-place finish and Andrew Perez (14:25) with his 11th place finish.
The Vikings next meet is at the Bronco Invitational, Saturday.
Earl Bannaag was 34th overall in the boys varsity race for Fairfield in 25:45, while Katelyn Cook (10th, 26:20), Lupe Reyes (14th, 27:11) and Ninia Canlas (16th, 27:25) competed for the Falcons in the varsity girls race.
Christian Junio (21st, 15:56) and Andrew Purcell (24th. 17:02) ran for the Falcons in the boys frosh-soph race and Clara Ortiz (seventh, 21:14) ran for Fairfield frosh-soph girls.
Armijo sweeps Napa: At Alston Park, Napa, the Indians girls varsity all finished in the top five, within one minute of each other, winning 15-50. Leslie Gutierrez, Amanpreet Kaur and Kirah Overman finished 1-2-3 with a time of 23:02. Gabriella Nathan-Funk was fourth with a 23:45 and DaJanae Williams finished in fifth with a 23:46.
The varsity boys team won 21-38, with Rohan Saini (17:14) leading the way with his first-place finish. Andres Rivera was third, clocking in at 18:08, while Matthew Webster finished in fourth in 18:10. Juan Martinez (fifth, 18:14) and Jared Webster (18:24) rounded out Armijo’s runners.
The frosh-soph boys team was led by Ebon Turner (first, 11:54) as they won 19-40. Dylan Saechao (11:59), Joseph Gutierrez (12:01), Brenan Irwin (12:02) and Luis Grijalaba (12:04) finished 3-4-5-6.
Soso Anatoru (first, 13:55) and Annie Ranich (second, 14:00) led the frosh-soph girls team in its 22-37 win. Grace Baxter (fifth, 14:31), Devin Cox (sixth, 14:35) and Adrien York (eighth, 14:57) rounded out Armijo’s competitors.
The Indians next meet is Saturday at the Bronco Invitational in Folsom and the next league meet is the last duel meet of the season against Rodriguez at Rockville Hills.
