ROCKVILLE — The Armijo High cross country teams swept Vintage in Monticello Empire League action at Rockville Hills Park, Wednesday.
The Indians girls’ varsity won 21-36, finishing 1-2-3, with Tiffini Mestas (20 minutes, 26 seconds), Kirah Overman (20:26) and Gabriella Nathan Funk (20:26) grabbing the top three spots, respectively. Leslie Gutierrez (21:38) finished fifth, while Amanpreet Kaur (22:04) finished eighth.
The boys’ varsity won 21-26 and was led by Juan Martinez, finishing second in 17:42. Andres Rivera Cruz finished in 17:49, taking third , while Jared Webster (fourth, 18:11), Ryan Cook (fifth, 18:14) and Kyle Catapusan (seventh, 18:23) rounded Armijo’s runners.
The boys’ frosh-soph team took the top-5 spots in its 15-50 win, with Dylan Saechao (first, 15:58), Brendan Erwin (second, 16:02), Joseph Gutierrez (third, 16:08), Jay Singh (fourth, 16:11) and Cesar Iturriaga (fifth, 16:11) sweeping the event.
The girls’ team finished 1-2-3 in their 18-45 victory, with Sosa Amatoru (first, 18:24), Victoria Scott (second, 18:32) and Devin Cox (third, 18:42). Annie Ramich took fifth place in 19:15, while Grace Baxter was seventh (19:41).
Some of the Indians’ runners will participate in the Clovis Invitational, Saturday;.
Vacaville sweeps Rodriguez: At Lagoon Valley Park, the Mustangs had four top-5 finishers despite its losses.
The Mustangs’ highest finisher was the girls’ Halle Sullivan, who finished second in 20 minutes, 26 seconds. Makenzie Alspaw was just behind Sullivan in 21:18, while Andrea Hernandez (13th, 23:43), Emma Vogliano (14th, 23:54) and Taylor Rainey (17th, 24:30) finished in the top-20.
Rodriguez’ boys team was led by third-place finisher Jesse Jones, who ran a 17:51, while Anthony Vogliano finished fifth in 18:05. In 10th place was Mitchell Velasquez (18:35), with Marcos Moreno (12th, 19:07) and Jake Jones (15th, 19:30) rounding out the top-15.
Alana Ewart (sixth, 16:20) led the JV girls, while Megan Riddle (17:19) finished 10th and Darla Cooper (18:00) finished 14th.
SCAC Center Meet: At Rockville Hills Park, Fairfield High’s top varsity finisher was Lupe Reyes, finishing 14th 25:05 for the girls team. Earl Banaag finished 30th for the Falcons (22:51), while Kahlid Walker (36th, 25:04) and Angelo Untalan (41st, 27:31) rounded out the boys’ team.
The frosh-soph teams had three top-15 finishers as Katelyn Cook was second in 14:57, and Ninia Canlas finished in 16:05 for fifth. Andrew Purcell of the boys’ team finished 11th in 13:33.
