VACAVILLE — The Armijo High boys and girls varsity and lost close races against Vacaville with identical scores of 26-29, in Monticello Empire League action, Wednesday.
The frosh-soph boys, on the other hand, won 16-45, taking up the top four spots and were led by ninth-grader Louis Grijalba, who finished in 12 minutes, 31 seconds. Evon Turner (second, 12:32), Erendan Erwin (third, 12:34) and Dylan Saechao (fourth, 12:38) rounded out the top four runners.
The top runners for the boys varsity team were Rohan Saini (second, 17:13), Andres Rivera (fourth, 17:44), Alec Woodson (sixth, 17:52), Ryan Cook (eighth, 17:58) and Matthew Webster (10th, 18:00).
The girls' varsity team was led by Gabriella Nathan-Funk (second, 20:15), Kirah Overman (third, 20:21) and Tiffini Nestas (fifth, 21:05), with Leslie Gutierrez (ninth, 22:08) and Amanpreet Kaur (10th, 22:09) also running for the Indians.
Victoria Scott led the girls frosh-soph team with a 15:01 second place finish, while Annie Ramich (fourth, 13:11), Soso Amatoru (sixth, 15:16), Grace Baxter (eighth, 16:03) and Devin Cox (ninth, 16:03) rounded out the top 10.
The Indians next race is in Napa at Alston Park for the Monticello Empire League Center Meet.
Rodriguez splits with Napa: At Rockville Hills Park, the varsity girls swept the Indians 15-45, with Halle Sullivan first (19:50), Makenzie Alspaw second (20:58), Andrea Hernandez third (22:16), Emma Vogliano fourth (22:53) and Carina Gutierrez fifth (23:03).
The varsity boys fell 26-29, with Anthony Vogliano leading the way for the Mustangs with a first-place finish in 16:45. Jesse Jones was third for Rodriguez (17:09).
Napa won the frosh-soph girls meet 25-32, while the boys lost 15-50. Alana Ewart was second for the girls (19:08), while the Mustangs’ Matt Larson won the boys event in 16:41.
