Prep boys tennis: Vikings earns 8-1 win over Vallejo

FAIRFIELD — The Vanden High boys tennis team defeated Vallejo 8-1 in Solano County Athletic Conference play, Tuesday.

The Apaches’ only victory came at No. 1 singles as Arturo Posada defeated Patrick Dazo of the VIkings 5-7, 6-3, 7-5.

Vanden’s Antonio Ramirez did not lose a game at No. 2 as he defeated Vallejo’s Tom Cunanah 6-0, 6-0, while Leonard Hsuing at No. 3 topped Jairo Gonzales 6-0, 6-2.

Fernando Angulo and Brandon Cervino at No. 3 led the doubles teams as they won 6-0, 6-1, while Reis Vince Cruz and Adam Stephens  won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1.

The Vikings (5-1) travel to Bethel, Thursday.

Benicia 9, Fairfield 0: At Benicia, the closest match for the Falcons (0-5) was at the No. 1 singles spot where David Lura fell 6-3, 6-3. The next closest match for Fairfield was at No. 3 singles as Patrick Mercado lost 6-0, 6-2.

The Falcons host American Canyon, Thursday.
