FAIRFIELD — Miguel Avila scored a hat trick helping the Fairfield High boys soccer team to a 4-3 Solano County Athletic Conference victory over American Canyon at Schaefer Stadium, Monday.
The Indians (2-2-1, 2-0-1 MEL) also got a goal by Joshua Merino.
Fairfield plays at Benicia, Wednesday.
Armijo 2, Wood 0: At Fairfield, the Indians (4-3-1, 1-1-1 MEL) scored early and late in the second half to earn a Monticello Empire League victory at Brownlee Field, Monday.
After a scoreless first half, outside midfielder Chris Castro carried the ball wide and crossed it to Sebastian Bouchet for a header near the far post for a goal in the 50t minute.
In the 79th minute, Edgar Padilla received a Zach Horton pass about 30 yards out bent a shot to the far right post past the diving goalkeeper.
“I’m glad Edgar got a goal in this one because he was our strongest offensive player all night,” Armijo coach Brad Burzynski said. “He really set the tone in the middle of the field.”
With Jacob Less back after sitting out a game because of a red card, the Indians defense allowed just three shots all night with goalkeeper Hernan Perez making one save.
Armijo plays against Vintage in Napa on Wednesday.
Armijo JV 3, Wood 0: At Fairfield, the Indians added to their winning streak with a victory against Wood in MEL action, Monday.
The Indians’ Eric Solorio led the attack and contributed in all the goals by scoring in the first half, assisting on the second goal and drawing a penalty for the third goal, made by Nicholas Bejarano. Freshman Juan Duran controlled the middle and took the pass from Solorio for the second goal.
Defenders Mitchel Nosbisch and Justin Less were key in the shutout along with midfielder Drake Delorefice.
Armijo (5-0, 1-0 MEL) plays at Vintage, Wednesday.
American Canyon 5, Vacaville Christian 1: At American Canyon, the Falcons (2-1) trailed 3-0 at the break and 4-0 early in the second half before getting their only goal from Andrew Grabowski in the 48th minute.
The Falcons kick off Sierra Delta League play by hosting San Juan on Thursday.
