Prep boys golf: Vanden’s Fitchorn shoots 76 in SJS Masters

STOCKTON — Vanden High’s Devyn Fitchorn carded a 4-over par 76 in the Sac-Joaquin Section Masters tournament at The Reserve at Spanos Park, falling short of qualifying for the CIF Northern California Championships by six shots.

Also failing to advance were Vacaville Christian’s Scott Gardner (76) and Vacaville’s Jarrett Hill (78).

As individuals, the trio needed to finish among the top four individuals not on the top three teams. The four individuals moving on are overall medalist Daniel Pena of Johansen of Modesto with a 66, Alex Lee of Rio Americano of Sacramento (69), Kevin Huff of Vista del Lago of Folsom (70) and Eric Olsem of El Camino of Sacramento (70).

Granite Bay won the team title with a score of 365, followed by Jesuit of Carmichael (371) and Central Catholic of Modesto (377). All three teams advance to the NorCals, which will be Monday at Sierra View Country Club in Roseville.
