DAVIS — The Rodriguez High boys basketball team had a big fourth quarter to guarantee its place in the championship game of the Les Curry Tournament, defeating Woodcreek of Roseville 86-76, Friday.
Rashad Abraham led the Mustangs (6-1) with 31 points, but it was Armani Reed who fueled the fourth-quarter heroics, scoring all of his 20 points in the period. Kyle Williams was the third-leading scorer with 12.
“We played good defense,” Rodriguez coach Nate Rankin said. “I was really happy with the way the guys came out.”
Rodriguez will play either Natomas or Davis in the championship game, Saturday.
Fairfield 82, Las Lomas 75: At Petaluma, the Falcons had five players in double figures as they advanced to the championship game of the Casa Grande Tournament.
Fairfield jumped out to a 21-10 lead in the first quarter, improving to a 45-21 lead by halftime.
Seniors, Raimauri Barron and DeMoriaye Hart-Spikes led the Falcons (8-2) with 15 points apiece. Maurice Trotter added 12 points, while Javon Adams had 11 and John Jones 10.
The Falcons will play host Casa Grande in the championship game, Saturday, at 6 p.m.
Compolindo 66, Vanden 47: At Moraga, the Vikings (4-3) were down 36-19 by the half and could catch up.
“We didn’t really compete in the beginning,” said Vanden coach Micheal Holloway. “We need to work harder and do a better job preparing.”
Vanden was only 8 of 22 from the free-throw line, the coach said.
The only player who scored in double figures was Thomas Avent, with 14 points.
Vanden travels to Richmond, Saturday, taking on Salesian at 7 p.m.
Lincoln 72, Armijo 50: At Stockton, Jordan Allen led the Indians (1-7) with 13 points, while Devin McDaniels added 10.
The Indians next play in the Fairfield Holiday Classic on Dec. 27.
Vacaville Christian 82, Esparto 29: At Vacaville, Andrew Grabowski poured in 28 points on 13 of 16 shooting and added 11 rebounds, three assists and three steals as the Falcons (4-3) cruised to a win in their own Falcon Christmas Classic.
Treyveon Merriweather contributed 23 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, five steals and two blocks, while Austin Barker 10 had points with five rebounds and six assists.
The Falcons, who shot 64.8 percent (35 of 54) with 19 assists host Forest Hill at 6 p.m., Saturday.
Campolindo JV 56, Vanden 50: At Moraga, the Vikings (1-6) were led by Anthony Anchante with 11 points, while Halim Whiteside added 10.
Vanden’s next game is Thurday in the Dixon Tournament.
