CONCORD — The Fairfield High boys basketball team ended up with a third-place finish in the Spartan Classic at De la Salle by defeating James Logan 55-43, Saturday.
“We played well in the first three quarters, defended well, rebounded well and moved the ball well,” Falcons coach Eddie Wilson said.
Solano (2-1) outscored the Colts 43-21 in the first three quarters, but allowed Logan to score 22 in the fourth.
Wilson said the struggles in the fourth quarter were due to a few turnovers.
John Jones led Fairfield with 11 points, while Unree Johnson, Anthony Bryant and Demoriaye Hart-Spikes each scored nine.
Hart-Spikes and Sean Gray ended up being named to the All-Tournament team.
The Falcons next play Tuesday when they host Pleasant Grove of Elk Grove.
Rodriguez 65, Skyline 59: At Alameda, the Mustangs ended up with a third-place finish in the Island Classic by topping the Titans, Saturday.
It was a close game all the way to the end with Rodriguez leading 40-37 at the half before pulling away in the fourth quarter,outscoring Skyline 15-8.
Kyle Williams led Rodriguez (3-1) in scoring with 18 points, while Armani Reed followed with 17. Rashad Abraham and Tim Moore Jr., each had nine.
The Mustangs travel to Stockton, Monday, to play Excel Academy.
Armijo JV 75, Vanden 35: At Vanden, the Indians cruised to the victory with Vandell Shaw leading Vanden with 12 points.
