Prep baseball: Vikings use big innings to top Mustangs

FAIRFIELD — Innings with crooked numbers were the thing when the baseball teams from host Vanden and Rodriguez squared off, Monday, with the Vikings getting more of them.

Vanden scored three runs in the bottom of the first and added one in the second, four in the fourth and three in the sixth for a 12-6 victory over the Mustangs.

Pablo Delgado Rodriguez, Alejandro Lara and Logan Spencer each had two hits for Vanden, with Pablo Delgado Rodriguez scoring three runs and Lara and Spencer driving in three each.

For Rodriguez, Cory Peacock had two hits and two RBIs, while J.P. San Antonio had drove in three runs.

Robert Hutting picked up the win in relief, giving up one hit while striking out two in three innings of work.

Rodriguez starter Paul Campise took the loss.

The Mustangs host Sheldon, while Vanden entertains Inderkum, Tuesday.
