FAIRFIELD — Freshman Jake LaGrand pitched a three-hit shutout for the Vanden High baseball team as it defeated Bethel 4-0 in Solano County Athletic Conference play, Thursday.

Peter Torres doubled and had an RBI, while Eric Robles was the only Vanden batter with multiple hits, going 2 for 3.

The Vanden JV team bested the Jaguars 10-3 with Tyler Reames earning the win as he went four innings, striking out four. Anthony De La Cruz led the Vanden from the plate as he was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI.

The Vikings host first place Benicia, Tuesday.

Vintage 4, Rodriguez 0: At Fairfield, the Mustangs (6-11, 5-5 Monticello Empire League) could not get the bats going as the Crushers’ pitchers held them to four hits.

Anthony Kaleczyc had half of the team’s hits as he was 2 for 4 at the plate, while Dante Golden and JP San Antonio had the other hits for Rodriguez, combining for 2 for 6.

The Mustangs play Elk Grove at Sacramento City College, Saturday.
