VACAVILLE — Nick Spini laced a two-run single in the first game and crushed a two-run homer in the second to help lift the Solano Mudcats collegiate baseball team to a 10-2 and 9-5 doubleheader sweep of Pro Player Baseball at Will C. Wood High, Sunday.

Spini’s two-run single put the Mudcats ahead to stay and they added five runs in the sixth inning on an RBI single by Hudson Bishop, a sacrifice fly by Tucker Bishop, an RBI double by Alvaro Rubalcaba and an error.

Bishop finished the game 2 for 2.

Jared Carr picked up the victory by striking out eight and allowing no earned runs and six hits over eight innings.

In the second game, Spini homered in the sixth inning after singling in the fifth. The Mudcats also got a two-run homer from Mark Foley in the fourth inning.

They then added five runs in the fifth with Nick Perez getting a two-run single and Mike Secrist hitting a sacrifice fly.
