Mudcats sweep doubleheader from Pro Player Baseball

VACAVILLE — The Solano Mudcats swept Pro Player Baseball 14-5 and 7-4 in a doubleheader at Will C. Wood to improve to 25-9 on the season, Sunday.

In the opener, Brenden Farney crushed a two-run homer, Matt Smith had an RBI single and a two-run error helped the Mudcats score six runs in the first three innings.

Mark Foley doubled in the second inning, homered in the fourth and singled in the eighth and ninth.

Gordie Clary picked up the victory, allowing one earned run on five hits with seven strikeouts over 5 1-3 innings.

In the second game, the Mudcats pushed across five runs in the first inning and never trailed.

In the big inning, Foley doubled in a run, while Drew Chitwood and Sammy Hedrick had RBI singles, and Chad Fortney had a run-scoring ground out.

Nick Spini doubled in the first inning and added a home run in the fourth.

Joey Evans picked up the victory, allowing three runs over five innings with three strikeouts.
